WHO WE ARE An Association of consecrated Women, with a desire to live our lives at the service of God and humanity. This desire may not involve grand projects with giant imprints. Perhaps small steps with lasting impressions.
This desire is a response to a call to bring to birth the Daughters of Compassion. Our original spiritual "home" was within the foundations begun by Saint Magdalen of Canossa. We took that foundation of our spirituality and the inspiration to acculturate it afresh. Magdalen's vision was about making Jesus known and loved. We hold on to that. She was also passionate about justice issues, offering a hand to those living in poverty or suffering in any way.
As Daughters of Compassion we aim to bring that same passion and spirituality into our daily lived experiences, our specific ministries mindful that how we do what we do helps us to become women who offer the compassion of Jesus to a wounded world. And we could all do with a little bit of that!
OUR LIFESTYLE
Consecrated women who live either with companions or alone.
We continue to work in our regular employment and provide for our daily needs.
We set aside times for daily prayer, and a monthly "community" meeting for connecting and for formation.
We strive to make Jesus known and loved (St Magdalen of Canossa) striving to give witness to gospel values by the way we live our lives.
According to our means we reach out to people in need.
In the local Church we engage in pastoral ministries.
If you feel drawn to the spirit and mission of the Daughters of Compassion, you are welcome to explore this path more deeply.
“Compassion is not a relationship between the healer and the wounded. It’s a relationship between equals.”
