Last month I had the privilege of going to East Timor for two weeks. During that time one of the highlights was visiting our Outreach Center to children and women experiencing Domestic Violence. Also present were members of the government whose department contributed to the financial support of the 7 workers there.
The simplicity and ability of the children to find fun and joy in the simplest pleasures drew me into their final dance of a short performance of local songs and traditional dances! Remembering to be child-like doesn't always come easy for me but this time there was no way I was going to be an onlooker! Too much fun inviting me into the dance! It reminded me of Jesus' words: "I bless you father Lord of heaven and of earth for hiding these things from the learned and the clever and revealing them to mere children!" (Matt. 11:25-26). Children, yes, they can teach us a lot about how to live a simple yet rich life because their innocence reveals the innocence of God. Rosa
